8:53 a.m., Feb. 4, 2008--The University of Delaware swimming and diving teams split in a Colonial Athletic Association dual meet held Saturday at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., with the men's team winning 171-127 and the women's team falling 183-117.

With the victory, the men's team improved to 11-3 on the season and 4-1 in the CAA. Their 11 wins match the all-time single-season record set by the 1965-66 and 1977-78 squads.

The women's team completed their season at 12-5 overall and 3-4 in the CAA. Only three other Fightin' Blue Hens teams won more meets in a season. Last year's team, along with the 1979-80 and 1980-81 teams, won 13 contests.

For the UD men's team, Andrew Zinn led the way with four wins. In the 50-yard freestyle, Zinn broke the pool record with a time of 20.56. He won the 100-yard event in 46.11 and anchored the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle teams.

John Ohlhaver, Dominic Pavlik and Scott Tsuchitani also won two events for the Hens. Ohlhaver and Pavlik both swam with Zinn on the two relay squads, while Tsuchitani won the 100-butterfly (53.51) and was the fourth member of the 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:36.36.

Garrett Arant and Matt Wehrman also won individual swimming events for Delaware. The former took the 1,650 freestyle in 16:25.54, while the latter won the 500-yard event in 4:48.13. Robert MacLeish was the only other swimmer to win an event, as a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished in 3:08.62.

The Blue Hens also took both diving events as Thomas Gallagher won the 3-meter contest with a score of 254.18 and Matt Abbruzzese won the 1-meter contest with a score of 176.50.

For the UD women's team, three swimmers won two events apiece. Cortney Barry, Delaware's standout distance freestyle competitor, won both the 500 and 1,650. In the 500, she finished in 5:12.37, while she cruised to a time of 17:36.08 in the 1,650.

Kellie Pastore also took both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:07.91 and the 200 in 2:24.78.

Diver Shannon Burke won both of her events, scoring 158.33 points in the 1-meter contest and 219.98 in the 3-meter event.
