UD cheerleaders' performance on ESPN2 Sunday

5:05 p.m., Feb. 14, 2008--The University of Delaware cheerleaders placed second in the Division-1 category of the nationals for the second time running this January, and their performance will be aired on ESPN2 on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 17.

The performances took place during the 2007 United Cheerleading Association and Universal Dance Association National Championships, held Jan. 18-20 at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

The UD cheerleading team's Gillian Guadagnino, a junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., and Seth Riblett, a senior from Newark, Del., took first place in the coed partner stunt category. Their performance will air from noon-1 p.m. Delaware stunt couples Julie Weiss, a sophomore from Hatfield, Pa., and Bill Mayo, a graduate student from Springfield, Pa., took the second-place prize, and Stephanie Tucker, a senior from Baltimore, and her partner Ben Schreiber, a student from Newark, Del., placed fourth.

The UD cheerleaders' performance will be on view during the 2-3 p.m. segment of the ESPN 2 broadcast.

The United Cheerleading Association and Universal Dance Association's national competition is one of the most prestigious national spirit championships in the country. More than 22,000 cheerleaders and 5,500 dancers compete to get to the national competition with more than 25,000 spectators in attendance to show their support.
