3:49 p.m., Feb. 13, 2008--UD's Men's Rowing club will hold its third annual "Erg-a-thon" fundraiser from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Gallery of the Perkins Student Center.
Last year's Erg-a-thon raised more than $6,000, and this year the club hopes to raise $8,000-10,000, according to senior Shawn Duff, club vice-president. The term “erg” refers to a unit of energy and mechanical work measured by ergometers, which are indoor rowing machines.
Alumni are joining the event this year, and they will be arriving around 3 p.m. Ivan Baldychev, who graduated in 2006 and is currently training for the 2008 Summer Olympics, will be stopping by during that time to erg. The championship erging rounds last from 3:45-4:45 p.m.
