The Landover, Md., native, who attended C.S. Flowers High School, was among 81 players honored on the three teams selected by David Coulson, Sports Network NCAA Division I football championship director.
A nominee for the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA), Cuff was a preseason first-team All Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selection. He also was named preseason All-American by Lindy's Sports Annuals college football preview magazine.
Cuff is looking to bounce back from an injury-plagued 2006 campaign that saw him miss four games due to an ankle injury. Despite the injury, Cuff still led the Hens in rushing last year as he picked up 541 yards on 124 carries for eight touchdowns
The number six all-time leading rusher at UD with 2,419 yards, Cuff could move to the number two career ranking this fall.
Last year Cuff pulled in 31 passes for 271 yards. The three-year starter has caught 74 passes for 702 yards during a career where he has scored 34 touchdowns.
Colonial Athletic Association players named as first-team selections by The Sports Network include Matt Santos (New Hampshire), Matt Austin and Jason Hatchell (Massachusetts) and Rob Zarrilli (Hofstra). Second-team selections include Joe Casey (Rhode Island), Tony LeZote (James Madison) and Brad Listori (Massachusetts), while Cuff and Gian Villante (Hofstra), picked up third-team honors.
