April 18, 2008--The following memorial tribute to Marguerite Termini was presented by Madeline Lambrecht, professor and director of Division of Special Programs, College of Health Sciences, at the Semiannual General Faculty Meeting on April 7, 2008.

Marguerite (Meth) Termini, associate professor of nursing until her retirement in 1985, died Dec. 12, 2007. Prof. Termini was a faculty member in the College of Nursing (now the College of Health Sciences) for 18 years. She came to the University of Delaware in 1967 and was promoted to associate professor in 1970.

Prof. Termini's specialty was psychiatric nursing. She was dedicated to clinical excellence. Her graduate students respected her high standards, which were consistently reflected in their innovative approaches to client care. Prof. Termini was active in numerous professional nursing organizations.

Prof. Termini was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 12, 1920, the daughter of Vincent and Mary Termini. She was one of seven children and the only one who graduated from college. Early in her career, she was employed by Kings County Hospital in New York. Traveling was one of her favorite hobbies, and she always found ways to combine her personal and professional interests. Her other interests included reading and the opera. Family was extremely important to Meth, as all who knew her will readily recall.

Prof. Termini is warmly remembered by all who knew and worked with her. She was a remarkable person.
