Villanova downs Hens 5-2 in women’s tennis

Susan Pollack is undefeated this season and now has 44 career singles victories, 10th best in UD history.

11:10 a.m., Sept. 27, 2006--The University of Delaware women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Villanova University in a match played Tuesday at the Delaware Field House courts.

UD's Susan Pollack and Amanda Campbell defeated Candice Carlin and Carla Erskine 8-4 at No. 1 doubles to improve to 8-0 this season. Also, Pollack was the lone singles winner for the Fightin' Blue Hens, defeating Carlin 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. The junior is now 10th all-time at UD with 44 career singles victories.

In addition to the point earned by Pollack, UD clinched the double points with wins from Alexa Dragonette and Julie Schiller, who defeated Leigh Ann Reilly and Jackie Williamson 8-6, and Sari Shuster and Brittany Barsky, who defeated Courtney Reed and Colleen Walter 8-4.

The UD women's team will return to action Saturday, Oct. 7, when the Hens travel to Georgetown University for a noon match.
