Women’s tennis team dominates tournament

UD’s Susan Pollack went undefeated in Delaware Tournament play.

11:54 a.m., Sept. 18, 2006--The University of Delaware women's tennis team had an undefeated player or doubles team in every flight of play as the Fightin' Blue Hens dominated the Delaware Tournament held this weekend at the Delaware Field House courts.

The tournament, with no team scoring, included four flights of singles and two flights of doubles in which each school had two players or teams represented. In each flight there was round-robin play with each player battling everyone in the flight except for their own teammate.

The UD women were led by junior Susan Pollack, who went undefeated in four Flight A singles matches and four flight A doubles matches with Amanda Campbell. Pollack is now 12-0 on the year with six singles and six doubles victories to her credit. In Flight B action, Liz Perlow went 3-0 in singles play, while Perlow and senior Sari Shuster went 3-1 in Flight B doubles.

UD dominated Flight C as both Brittany Barsky and Alexa Dragonette went a perfect 4-0. The pair also recorded a 3-1 record in Flight A doubles. Dragonette leads the team with eight singles victories on the year. In Flight D play, freshman Kristen Mueller rounded out the Hens stellar singles play as she went 4-0. Mueller also paired with junior Julie Schiller to go 4-0 in Flight B doubles.

UD will return to action Thursday when the Hens host St. Joseph's University, with play scheduled to start at 3 p.m at the Delaware Field House courts.
