Women's tennis team wins 26 at Swarthmore

8:55 a.m., Sept. 12, 2006--The University of Delaware women's tennis team opened its fall season by winning 26 of 32 matches at the weekend's Swarthmore Tournament. The Fightin' Blue Hens were led by sophomore Amanda Campbell, who went undefeated in four Flight A singles matches and two doubles matches.

Junior Susan Pollack also went undefeated during tournament play by winning both of her singles matches along with both doubles matches with Campbell. Pollack and Campbell now rank fourth all-time in career doubles wins as a team with 24.

Senior Sari Shuster won two of her three singles matches to improve to 49-30 for her career as she moved into seventh place on the all-time UD singles wins list. Shuster and senior Liz Perlow were paired for two victories in doubles, moving their all-time mark to 12-2. Perlow also went 3-1 on the weekend in singles play.

In Flight B action, junior Alexa Dragonette went undefeated in singles play by winning all four matches. She was victorious over Swarthmore's Rachel Wallwork, who defeated three Hens before falling to Dragonette.

UD will return to action Friday through Sunday as the host team in the Delaware Tournament. The Hens will take on Towson University and the College of New Jersey, with action beginning at 9 a.m., Friday.
