10:21 a.m., Sept. 11, 2006--The University of Delaware women's soccer team is off to the best start in program history after defeating Lehigh University 2-1 in the last game of the Delaware Adidas Blue Hen Classic on Sunday afternoon at Delaware Mini-Stadium.

The Fightin' Blue Hens (5-0-1), who opened the tournament with a 1-1 tie against Yale University on Friday, are unbeaten after six games for the first time ever. The 1994 team started 5-0 before losing to nationally ranked Hartford University 6-2.

The Hens will return to action at 5 p.m., Friday, when they take on Fairfield University in the BAE Systems Classic tournament at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. The Hens will face the U.S. Air Force Academy at 11 a.m., Sunday.

Against Lehigh, Alli D'Amico scored the game-winner for the Hens with just over 15 minutes remaining. The Hens opened the scoring when Emily Sammis headed home her first goal of the season off of a corner kick by Kasie Shover, but Lehigh came back to tie before D'Amico found the net with the winner off another corner kick by Shover.

Against Yale, UD goalkeeper Bonnie Mills made a career-high nine saves while Lindsay Boyd scored her fifth goal in as many games.

In other tournament action, the University of Montana defeated Lehigh 2-1 and Yale defeated Montana 1-0.
