UD volleyball defeats Delaware State, 3-0

11:23 a.m., Sept. 18, 2006--The University of Delaware volleyball team continued its record-setting start by raising its record to 11-0 with a 3-0 victory over Delaware State University on Friday at Barbara Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

The Fightin' Blue Hens, off to the best start in UD history, defeated Delaware State 30-17, 30-14 and 30-18. Junior Colleen Walsh had a game-high 14 kills while committing just two errors, and junior Kelly Gibson had 11 kills, seven digs and five service aces. Senior Heather Ranck led the team with 12 digs and freshman Michelle LaLonde had nine kills.

The Hens will return to Colonial Athletic Association play this week with a pair of road games. They will travel to Northeastern University for a game at 7 p.m., Wednesday, and to Hofstra University for a game at 5 p.m., Thursday. UD will return to Barbara Viera Court to face the University of North Carolina Wilmington at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29.
