Delaware men’s tennis team defeats Villanova

Nolan Greenberg won at No. 1 singles as UD defeated Villanova in men’s tennis action Wednesday.

10:08 a.m., Sept. 28, 2006--The University of Delaware men's tennis team won five of six singles matches as the Fightin' Hens posted a 5-2 victory over Villanova University on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware Field House courts.

UD's Nolan Greenberg defeated Dimitri Chimerakis 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Hens, who were playing in their first dual meet of the fall season. Also for the Hens, Austin Longacre posted a thrilling 6-4, 7-6 (14-12) win over Scott Fahrendorf at No. 2.

Other winners for UD were Sam Barrer at No. 4, Jon Schwartz at No. 5 and Camilo Perez at No. 6. Barrer defeated Brett Tobin 6-1, 6-0, Schwartz defeated Alex Leeser 6-2, 6-2, and Perez defeated Sumanth Chittajallu 7-6, 4-6, 10-8.

UD will return to action at 2 p.m., Tuesday, with a match at Georgetown University.
