Hen golfers finish 15th in Sea Trail tournament

10:38 a.m., Sept. 25, 2006--The University of Delaware golf team finished in 15th place at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate held Saturday and Sunday at Sunset Beach, N.C.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens finished with a combined score of 598 to finish 22 over par at the par-72, 6761-yard course. Western Carolina University won the invitational with a score of 571, finishing one stroke ahead of host Elon, which posted a four under par score of 572. James Madison (575), Radford (579), Loyola (581), Gardner-Webb (582), Longwood (583), Kennesaw State (587), Stetson (589) and Guilford (590) rounded out the top 10.

UD was led by senior Joe McLister and freshman Jason Bernstein, who both shot 148 to finish in a tie for 32nd place. Sophomore Tommy Ellison tied for 67th place after shooting 152, and senior Tyler Kupper and freshman John Jenson tied for 79th place after shooting 155.

The Hens will return to action Oct. 2-3 when they compete in the College of William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Golf Course in Williamsburg, Va.
