Academy Street Diner coming to The Scrounge

11:35 a.m., Sept. 26, 2006--Something new is coming to The Scrounge at Perkins Student Center, as the Academy Street Diner will make its debut on Wednesday, Sept. 27, offering favorite diner-type foods. Hours are 4-9 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays, and 4-8 p.m., Fridays.

Take-out menus will be available from Thursday, Sept. 28.

The creation of the Academy Street Diner is in response to student requests for more variety in menu options by Dining Services, according to Merlyn Bowen, marketing director.

The Academy Street Diner will feature four main stations with menu posters. They include:

  • “Hot off the Griddle,” featuring grilled cinnamon buns, omelets, pancakes, eggs, French toast, burgers, chicken, fries, onion rings and sides;
  • “Milkshakes and Melts,” featuring 20-ounce milk shakes and floats made with Woodside Farm gourmet ice cream, plus a variety of sandwich melts;
  • “The Salad Garden,” featuring popular express salads; and
  • “Deep Dish Desserts,” featuring pies, cakes and cheesecake, plus other desserts.
