Delaware's Danaher is CAA rookie of the week

UD’s Paul Danaher is the CAA rookie of the week.

2:50 p.m., Sept. 26, 2006--Paul Danaher, a freshman forward on the University of Delaware men's soccer team, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association rookie of the week.

Danaher, from Luton, England, scored his first collegiate goal against the College of William & Mary as the Fightin' Blue Hens won 2-0 and snapped the Tribe's four-game winning streak in a match played Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg, Va. Danaher broke a scoreless tie early in the second half, volleying a pass from Sobhan Tadjalli into the upper left corner of the net.

Danaher and the 3-2-2 Hens will continue CAA play with a pair of games this weekend at the Delaware Mini-Stadium. UD will face Virginia Commonwealth University at 7 p.m., Friday, and James Madison University at 2 p.m., Sunday. VCU is 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference and James Madison is 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
