Meany, Bradley earn conference recognition

1:30 p.m., Sept. 14, 2006--University of Delaware senior cross country star P.J. Meany and freshman football player Jared Bradley have earned conference recognition for their performances in season-opening competition.

Meany was named the Colonial Athletic Association runner of the week after he won the Hofstra Invitational meet and led the Fightin' Blue Hens to the men's team title. He will return to action when the UD men's and women's teams serve as hosts for the Delaware Invitational to be held Saturday morning, Sept. 16, at White Clay Creek State Park. The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11:10 a.m.

Bradley was named the Atlantic 10 Conference rookie of the week as he rushed 20 times for 91 yards in UD's 31-7 victory over West Chester University. Bradley also caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Flacco. Bradley and the Hens will return to action with a game against the State University of New York at Albany at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium.
