’Haunted House-Warming’ event set for Oct. 13

10:49 a.m., Oct. 6, 2006--To usher in the Halloween season and mark the opening of its new location, Wellspring (UD's student wellness program) is hosting a haunted house-warming party from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, at 231 South College Ave.

Besides offering free food and prizes, the event will feature Delaware ghost expert, folklorist and occasional UD lecturer Ed Okonowicz, who will provide running commentary from 12:30-1:15 p.m. on campus ghosts, superstitions curses and Friday the 13th lore.

Three copies of Okonowicz's latest book, Civil War Ghosts of Fort Delaware, also will be among the door prizes given away by chance to visitors.

Besides the door prizes, which include a gift basket as well as the books, all guests will receive trick-or-treat bags.

Wellspring is located in the white house facing South College Ave. next to the Morris Library. The event is open to all members of the campus community. Individuals needing disability access are asked to call ahead.

For more information about this event, or to learn more about the services offered by Wellspring, call (302) 831-3457 or visit [www.udel.edu/wellspring].
