1:51 p.m., Oct. 31, 2006--Not even stormy weather could dampen the spirits of the hundreds of UD students and parents who attended this year's Parents and Family Weekend, Oct. 27-29.

Nancy Millard, assistant director of university relations, said the enthusiasm was contagious all weekend but especially on Saturday as 400 UD families and friends enjoyed a pre-football game tailgate brunch inside the Delaware Field House followed by the game against Towson University. “The game was sold-out, as were many of the weekend's events,” she said.

The weekend began on Friday with a sold-out dinner at the Blue & Gold Club and a Ghosts on The Green walking tour. The women's volleyball team played Hofstra and UD's Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP) offered Cyrano De Bergerac in the new Center for the Arts.

On Saturday, along with the tailgate and football game, many families attended PTTP's Peter Pan, the women's volleyball game against Northeastern, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad, a comedy-burlesque, and a family ice skating session in the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

On Sunday, the Religious and Spiritual Life Concerns Caucus and the University Religious Leaders' Organization offered parents, family members and friends the opportunity to participate in a variety of religious activities on campus. Parents and family members also had an opportunity to enjoy Brunch University Style together in the Kent, Pencader, Russell and Rodney dining halls.
