10 things faculty should know about UDSIS

11:37 a.m., Oct. 30, 2006--Here are 10 things faculty need to know about UD's new student records system:

  • UD is implementing a new computer system for student records this fall;
  • The new computer system is called UDSIS, and the old one was SIS+;
  • UDSIS is web-based and user-friendly. You can access it easily from any computer anywhere with Internet access. UDSIS works with both PCs and Macs;
  • On Oct. 30, all faculty will be able to use Faculty Center in UDSIS to view, download or print class rosters, check teaching schedules, communicate with students by e-mail and post grades. Faculty do not need to request access to Faculty Center--it will be given automatically to all faculty members;
  • Starting with final grades for the fall 2006 semester, all grading will be done in UDSIS Faculty Center. Optical scan forms (bubble sheets) will no longer be used;
  • Training for UDSIS Faculty Center started in September by department request. It will be delivered as both in-person and online training. Look for training announcements at [www.udel.edu/UDSISproject/info/training.html];
  • Faculty advisers also will continue to use UD Advising Notes, which now works with the new UDSIS system;
  • Faculty logon to UDSIS by using their UDelNet IDs and passwords. The UDelNet ID is the UD e-mail address that ends with @udel.edu.
  • Faculty will access UDSIS at [www.udel.edu/udsis]. The UDSIS link at the top of the UD home page is only for students; and
  • Students will no longer use SSNs as their student ID numbers. The new nine-digit identifier is called the UD ID and begins with 700. Some students may have a five-digit number if they were paid by the Office of Human Resources before March 2006.
