Talk on 'Double Life in Baseball' set Oct. 9

3:40 p.m., Oct. 5, 2006--Dave Pallone, former National Baseball League umpire and author of the 1990 New York Time's best-selling autobiography, Behind the Mask: My Double Life in Baseball, will speak at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 9, in the Trabant University Center Theatre. The talk is free and open to the public.

Pallone spent 18 years as a baseball umpire, 10 of those years in the National Baseball League and all of those years as a gay man. His book offers a revealing look at baseball through the eyes of a gay man.

Since he left baseball in 1988, Pallone has become a motivational speaker and diversity trainer, consulting with corporations and organizations on sexual-orientation sensitivity training.

Pallone's talk is sponsored by the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Residence Life, and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered Community Office.
