Student performance, community event Sunday

3:47 p.m., Oct. 4, 2006--The Delaware OPEN, featuring student individual and group performances, will be held on from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8, on Harrington Beach on Academy Street opposite the Perkins Student Center.

The event, which encourages students to “Open your mind, Open your heart and Open your world,” will include a variety of dance, vocal and martial arts performances.

Students also can learn how to become active in the UD and Newark communities by visiting information tables at the event sponsored by:

  • Habitat for Humanity;
  • Ronald McDonald House;
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters;
  • Meals on Wheels;
  • Delaware Food Bank;
  • AIDS Delaware;
  • Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware;
  • HAVEN;
  • HOLA;
  • SAGE;
  • Minority Student Network;
  • Promoters of Wellness-Wellspring peer educators; and
  • The Unity Program.

The Delaware OPEN is hosted by the Russell, Central, Gilbert and Harrington residential complexes.
