Delaware men’s tennis team wins five matches

2:31 p.m., Oct. 11, 2006--The University of Delaware men's tennis team won five of six matches played against competitors from St. Joseph's University on Tuesday afternoon at the Delaware Field House courts.

In singles play for the Hens, freshman Austin Longacre defeated Michael Stauble 6-2, 7-6, freshman Sam Barrer defeated Brent Kahl 6-0, 6-1 and junior Jon Schwartz defeated Brian Costello 6-0, 6-4. UD sophomore Nolan Greenberg fell to Nick Tuxen 6-4, 6-3. In doubles action, Greenberg and Barrer defeated Tuxen and Stauble 8-6, while Longacre and fellow freshman Andrew Blumberg defeated Costello and Kahl 8-0.

The UD men's and women's tennis teams will participate in the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational of Newport News from Friday-Sunday.
