Georgetown tops UD in men’s tennis match

12:47 p.m., Oct. 4, 2006--The University of Delaware men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Georgetown University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fightin' Blue Hens took the early lead by winning the doubles point, as Adam Greenberg and Sam Barrer defeated Jeffrey Schnell and Kevin Walsh 8-4 at No. 1 and Andrew Blumberg and Austin Longacre defeated Bert Baggio and Etienne Paris 8-4 at No. 2. UD's No. 3 doubles team of Matthew Liebman and Camilo Perez fell 8-5 to Kenneth Wong and David Tillem.

Georgetown then swept the singles matches as Schnell defeated Greenberg 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, Anthony Tan defeated Longacre 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 and Adam Gross defeated Liebman 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 at No. 3. Also, Will Lowell defeated Barrer 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4, Ted Tywang defeated Jonathan Schwartz 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 and Walsh defeated Perez 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.

UD will return to action with a home match against St. Joseph's University at 3 p.m., Tuesday.
