Lipizzaner Stallions at The Bob Oct. 11-12

11:50 a.m., Oct. 6, 2006--The “World Famous” Lipizzaner Stallions will perform at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 11-12, at the Bob Carpenter Center. Known as the aristocrats, ballet dancers and aerialists of the equestrian world, the stallions and their riders perform intricate maneuvers in the style of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, such as the Pas de Trois, Airs Above the Ground, the Pas De Quatre and the Grande Quadrille.

Many of their performance maneuvers were originally used in battle in the 1500s after Archduke Maximilian, later emperor of Austria, began breeding the Spanish horses in his country.

The horses first became famous in the United States with the release of the Walt Disney movie “The Miracle of the White Stallions” in 1963. The film depicts the story of last days of World War II when the horses were made temporary wards of the U.S. Army.

Tickets for the UD appearance are $25 and $29 for adults; and $23 for children 3-12 and seniors older than 60. Tickets can be charged by phone by calling (302) 984-2000 or by visiting the Ticketmaster web site at [www.ticketmaster.com]. They also are available at UD box offices in the Bob Carpenter and Trabant University centers.

Special tickets for groups of 15 or more are $29 and $20 each and can be arranged by calling (302) 831-4507.
