Call for proposals for teaching conference

5:01 p.m., Oct. 13, 2006--UD faculty presentation proposals are now being sought for the upcoming Lilly-East Conference on College and University Teaching, set to take place April 12-14 in Clayton Hall.

Proposals may focus on research, pedagogical practice and issues of value to both junior and senior faculty across disciplines. Proposals can be for presentations of 45-minute concurrent sessions or for presentations of 75-minute concurrent sessions. Proposals for “exemplary practice” posters also are being sought.

The Lilly-East Conference on College and University Teaching is a three-day collegial networking event designed to promote best practices for university professors. The 2007 Lilly-East Conference at UD will focus on how to design, facilitate and assess classroom environments that support and enhance student learning.

The deadline for proposals for this year's conference is Friday, Dec. 1.

UD faculty interested in submitting proposals are encouraged to stop by the Lilly-East table in the Food Court in the Perkins Student Center on the following days to brainstorm and get feedback on proposal ideas. The table will be staffed from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27; from 4-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31; and from 8-10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 2.

UD is committed to supporting the University's faculty scholarship of teaching by supplementing 90 percent of the $379 conference registration cost. Online registration forms for the April conference are currently under development.
