Panel discussion of Latino identity Oct. 24

4:33 p.m., Oct. 20, 2006--UD's Office of Latino and Latin American Heritage is cosponsoring a panel discussion, “Identity Construction among U.S. Latinas and Latinos” at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, in 127 Memorial Hall.

Part of the programming for Hispanic Heritage Month, the panel discussion will focus on how U.S. Latinas and Latinos negotiate their identities while navigating ethnic and mainstream worlds in American society.

The discussion will be introduced by Monica Dominguez, UD assistant professor of art history, and will be moderated by Jorge Cubillos, UD associate professor of foreign languages and literatures. Panelists will include Havidan Rodriquez, vice provost for academic affairs; Rosalie Rolon-Dow, UD assistant professor of education; Claudia Rodriguez, a UD senior representative from HOLA; and Matt Stieglitz, a sophomore representative from Campus Alliance de la Raza.

The event is free and open to the public. Other sponsors include the Office of Multicultural Programs, the Center for Black Culture, HOLA, Campus Alliance de la Raza, Chi Upsilon Sigma, Lambda Pi Chi, Lambda Theta Phi and UD's Latin American Studies Program.
