Jazz ensembles in concert Oct. 19 at CFA

1:23 p.m., Oct. 18, 2006--UD's Department of Music presents two student jazz ensembles in concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Puglisi Orchestra Hall of the Center for the Arts.

The concert program features a tribute to the late Maynard Ferguson with three charts from his library, “The Lamp is Low,” “Give it One” and “Nice 'N Juicy.” Other featured charts are “Groove Merchant” from the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra and Gordon Goodwin's “Horn of Puente.” Featured vocal charts are Antonio Carlos Jobim's “Chega De Saudade” (“No More Blues”) and Luiz Bonfa's “A Day in the Life of a Fool.”

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for alumni and senior citizens and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
