UD’s Bernstein wins Scotty Duncan title

10:25 a.m., Oct. 9, 2006--University of Delaware freshman Jason Bernstein defeated teammate John Jenson on the first hole of a sudden death playoff as the UD Blue team won the Scotty Duncan Memorial Invitational held Saturday and Sunday at the White Clay Creek Golf Course in Stanton.

Bernstein and Jenson shot 152 in regulation over the par-72, 7,007-yard course before going to sudden death. Bernstein and Jenson both competed for the UD Blue team, which won the team title with a score of 617. Drexel University finished second at 632, Goldey Beacom College finished third at 641, Temple University finished fourth at 648 and Iona College finished fifth at 651. The UD Gold team finished in sixth place at 663, while Wilmington College was seventh at 676 and Neumann College was eighth at 699.

UD sophomore Tommy Ellison tied for ninth after shooting 158 while senior Joe McLister shot 159 to finish tied for 12th. Freshman Mike Barrow tied for 14th place at 160, and freshman Dan Rexon and junior Britt Murdoch tied for 15th at 161. Senior Josh Williamosky finished in 17th place at 162 and junior Mike Strasburg tied for 35th at 180.

The Hens will return to action Oct. 30-31 when they will compete in the Old Dominion Invitational to be held at Sea Scape Golf Course in Nags Head, N.C.
