Hen golf team finishes 13th in Agee Invitational
12:53 p.m., Oct. 4, 2006--The University of Delaware golf team shot 890 to finish 13th at the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by the College of William & Mary on Monday and Tuesday at Stonehouse Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va. Old Dominion University had four golfers in the top 10 to capture the team title with a score of 842 over 54 holes, nine strokes better than runner-up Loyola College with 851. East Carolina finished third at 861 followed by Richmond (867), William & Mary (868), Francis Marion (869), Princeton (870), St. Joseph's (878), James Madison (882), and Towson (883) in the top 10. The Hens finished just one stroke behind Boston College in the 18-team field. UD was once again led by senior Joe McLister, who shot scores of 71 and 70 on Monday and 73 Tuesday to finish tied for 13th place with a score of 214. It was the 25th time in his career that McLister has been the top Delaware competitor in a tournament. Also for the Hens, freshman John Jenson and sophomore Tommy Ellison tied for 47th with scores of 225, freshman Dan Rexon was 64th at 229, and freshman Jason Bernstein was 78th at 234. The Hens will return to action this weekend when they host the Scotty Duncan Fall Invitational at White Clay Creek Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. |
