Music department sets gala concerts, Oct. 10, 11

3:21 p.m., Oct. 6, 2006--The UD Department of Music will hold its 17th annual opening gala concerts at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, and again at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Gore Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts.

The concerts will feature UD faculty musicians and local professional musicians, including Julie Nishimura on piano, Christiaan Taggart on guitar, Eileen Grycky on flute, Lee A. Steward on tenor vocals, Lloyd Shorter on oboe, Marianne Gythfeldt on clarinet, Jon Gaarder on bassoon, John David Smith on horns, Karen Flint on harpsichord, Anne Sullivan on harp and Marie Robinson on soprano vocals.

The UD faculty jazz band also will perform and showcase the talents of Todd Groves on saxophone, Vernon James on saxophone, Harvey Price on vibraphone, Michael Arenson on piano, Craig Thomas on bass and Tom Palmer on drums.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $3 for UD students with valid ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant or Bob Carpenter box offices. For more information, call (302) 831-2577.
