Presidential Citations to be awarded Oct. 13

5:12 p.m., Oct. 10, 2006--The campus community is invited to attend the University of Delaware Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement award ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, in Gore Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts.

The 2006 Presidential Citation recipients are:

  • Sujata K. Bhatia, who graduated from UD in 1999 with bachelor of science degrees in biology, biochemistry and chemical engineering and a master's degree in chemical engineering. She is currently a medical research scientist in biochemical sciences and engineering with DuPont Experimental Station;
  • Joan A. Irving, '95M, College of Arts and Sciences, paper conservationist for the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts;
  • J. Matthew O'Donnell, '94, College of Arts and Sciences, morning news anchor at Philadelphia's WPVI/Channel 6; and
  • Diane E. Turgeon, '95, College of Health Sciences, health and fitness specialist at the U.S. Capitol.

The citations honor graduates of the past 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional and public service activities.
