AlumniFest to honor UD Chorale director Nov. 11

2:28 p.m., Oct. 20, 2006--Alumni of the University of Delaware Chorale, the most select choir at UD, are being sought to participate in a special concert to mark Director Paul Head's 10th anniversary on campus. The AlumniFest to honor Head, an associate professor of music and UD's director of choral studies, is scheduled for 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, in Mitchell Hall.

Alumni who plan to participate must notify the UD Department of Music by Wednesday, Oct. 25, so that music can be ordered.

The alumni choir will meet at 2 p.m., Nov. 11, in 118 Amy E. Dupont Music Building to rehearse a few of the UD Chorale's greatest hits and will rehearse with current members of the chorale at 4 p.m. Afterwards, there will be an optional preconcert dinner at the Blue & Gold Club.

During the performance, the UD Chorale will present the first part of the concert and be joined by the alumni choir at the end to sing the final part of the program. A reception, to celebrate the chorale's accomplishments over the past 10 years, will follow.

The UD Chorale has a long and distinguished history. Members are chosen by audition from all colleges at the University. The choir has varied in size from 17 to 60 and has performed with distinction throughout the East Coast of the United States and in Europe.

The group has won second place in Llangolen competitions and has performed at the White House. The chorale undertook a successful concert tour of Europe in the summer of 2003 and has recorded several CDs.

Interested alums should contact the Department of Music at (302) 831-2577 to reserve a place in the alumni choir, to purchase concert tickets for friends and family and to reserve seats at the preconcert dinner.

For more information, alums can send e-mail to [chrismcg@udel.edu] or call the choral office at (302) 831-3387.
