Boston Brass performs at UD Nov. 2

2:38 p.m., Oct. 20, 2006--Boston Brass, the internationally renowned horn quintet, will perform a concert at UD at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, in Mitchell Hall.

The group's appearance at UD is sponsored by the Department of Music and UD's Xi Mu chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music honor society.

Tickets for the Nov. 2 concert are $5 for students, $15 for seniors and $25 for all others, and can be purchased at UD box offices in the Trabant University Center and the Bob Carpenter Center, as well as online at Ticketmaster by clicking on [www.ticketmaster.com].

In addition to the Thursday concert, Boston Brass will present a master class at 1:25 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Center for the Arts. The master class is free.

The horn ensemble, which is celebrated for its wide-ranging repertoire that includes jazz and swing favorites and new takes on classical works, has toured both nationally and internationally and has been featured on the CBS Morning Show and National Public Radio's Performance Today.

In addition to playing more than 100 concerts each year, Boston Brass also has recorded seven CDs and has teamed with several symphony orchestras. They have worked with legendary jazz recording genius Rudy van Gelder and have won rave reviews for their takes on works by Horace Silver, Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie and many other contemporary jazz composers.
