UD student assaulted, robbed at Perkins Center

4 p.m., Oct. 30, 2006--A 20-year-old male University of Delaware student was assaulted and robbed at about 1:40 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, in front of the Perkins Student Center, according to University Police.

Police said the victim, who was wearing a Halloween costume, had just returned from a bus trip and was waiting for a friend who was on a different bus to return. As he waited, the victim was approached by two men, both about 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, with short brown hair and wearing polo shirts. The assailants made comments regarding his costume, then words were exchanged and the two suspects punched the victim in the stomach area and pushed him to the ground. An unknown person intervened and stopped the suspects from assaulting the victim any further.

The suspects took the victim's straw hat and fled the scene in a westerly direction. The victim did not suffer any injuries. Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact the University Police at 831-2222.
