UDARF honors the Roselles for stewardship

Judy Van Name (right), retired associate professor of family economics, presents the certificate of appreciation to Louise Roselle.

11:34 a.m., Oct. 5, 2006--Approximately 80 members of the University of Delaware Association of Retired Faculty (UDARF) gathered on Oct. 3 for a luncheon in the lobby area of UD's new Center for the Arts and presented UD President and Mrs. David P. Roselle with a certificate of “appreciation and gratitude” for their “splendid stewardship of the University.”

Louise Roselle accepted the certificate on behalf of herself and her husband, who had a conflicting engagement and was unable to attend.

In his remarks, Robert Stark, professor emeritus of mathematical sciences and UDARF president, said President Roselle was arguably the best college president in the United States and maybe the longest serving.

He introduced Judy Van Name, retired associate professor of family economics, who presented the award to Louise Roselle. The certificate was created by Elizabeth Dunkle, editorial coordinator in publications.

Louise Roselle thanked UDARF for the “wonderful words and citation,” and said that she knew her husband would be “touched as I am by the lovely tribute,” adding that it was a privilege and honor to serve and a pleasure to be part of the community.
