Hens' Walsh is named CoSIDA All-Academic

Colleen Walsh

10:06 a.m., Nov. 28, 2006--University of Delaware junior outside hitter Colleen Walsh has been selected second team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 2 All-Academic for volleyball.

Walsh, an economics and finance major, was among 12 players selected to the first and second teams based on their academic and athletic accomplishments. To be eligible for the team, scholar-athletes must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and be a starter or key reserve for their team. District 2 includes all NCAA Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Walsh, who earlier this year was named second team All-Colonial Athletic Association, helped lead the Fightin' Blue Hens to a record of 21-9 overall and the conference tournament semifinals.

Walsh was among the top hitters in the nation, and led the CAA in kills per game with 4.77. She was second in the CAA in points with 5.04 per game and also had four service aces, 46 blocks and 85 digs. She ranks fourth all-time at UD with 1,292 career kills.
