Recital Friday by faculty tenor Lee Steward

3:51 p.m., Nov. 1, 2006--UD's Department of Music presents a recital by tenor Lee A. Steward, assistant professor of music, at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Center for the Arts.

Accompanied by pianist Julie Nishimura, faculty accompanist, Steward will present a Musical Theatre Recital with songs from The Light at the Piazza, The Baker's Wife, Passion, Closer Than Ever and many others.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and alumni and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box.

An American lyric tenor with an actor's stage presence, Steward has performed concerts in New York City, Austria, Japan and across the U.S., most notably singing on an A&E television special honoring Stephen Sondheim. He also has performed in some of America's finest opera houses in roles including Borsa (Rigoletto) and Torquemada (L'heure espagnole) at the Berkshire Opera in Massachusetts. Steward has been honored as a regional finalist at the Metropolitan Opera Guild Competition.

In great demand as a collaborative artist, Nishimura has performed on the Philadelphia Orchestra Connection Series at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Orchestra Chamber Music Series in the Ballroom of the Academy of Music and in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center, the Delaware Symphony's Chamber Music Series and the Wilmington Music School's Music Masters Series.
