3 UD soccer players recognized by CAA

1:46 p.m., Nov. 9, 2006--Three University of Delaware soccer players have been named second team All-Colonial Athletic Association. They are senior women's soccer players Lauren Petchel and Bonnie Mills, and junior men's soccer player Sobhan Tadjalli.

Petchel, a defender, earned second team All-CAA honors for the second consecutive season after anchoring a defensive backfield that allowed only 1.20 goals per game. Petchel had eight shots this season and scored her second career goal on a penalty kick against the College of William & Mary.

Mills, a goalkeeper, played every minute of every game until the second half of the Fightin' Blue Hens' season finale at Drexel University. Mills had a 1.18 goals against average, an .818 save percentage and six shutouts. She had 99 saves this season, fourth most in a single season in UD history, and finished her career with 173 saves, fifth most on the all-time saves list.

Tadjalli, a forward, led the Hens with nine goals, four assists and 52 shots on the season. His best game was against nationally ranked James Madison University when he scored two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 victory. Tadjalli has 22 career goals, ninth most in the history of the men's soccer program.
