Join the Great American Smokeout Nov. 16 2:24 p.m., Nov. 1, 2006--UD's Employee Wellness Center will provide encouragement and incentives for UD employees who participate in the Great American Smokeout, an annual event sponsored by the American Lung Association, on Thursday, Nov. 16. Employees who sign a pledge not to smoke on Nov. 16 will be sent a "survival kit,” which will contain tips on how to get through the day without smoking, and one participant will be eligible to win dinner for two at Jose's Border Cafe in Newark. The kits will be sent to each participant's campus address. "More people quit smoking on this day than any other day of the year,” Marianne Carter, director of the Employee Wellness Center, said. “If participants can get through this one day without smoking, many decide to kick the habit."
