Senior competes on 'Millionaire' Nov. 21

Senior Dina DiEleuterio hopes to hit the jackpot on ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’

4:24 p.m., Nov. 17, 2006--UD senior Dina DiEleuterio will vie for a chance to strike it rich next Tuesday, Nov. 21, on a 12:30 p.m. WPVI-TV6 broadcast of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

The 22-year-old native of Wilmington, who will graduate in January with a bachelor's degree in psychology, will represent UD in the hot seat during the show's annual run of “College Week” and will put her academic skills on display as she answers head-scratchers that may earn her a cool trip to the bank.

A 2002 graduate of St. Mark's High School and the first person in her immediate family to graduate from college, DiEleuterio will bring along her parents, Janice and Michael DiEleuterio, as well as eight other proud friends and family members to cheer her on from the on-set sidelines.

DiEleuterio, who upon graduation hopes to begin a teacher certification program in order to teach high-school psychology, said that her plans for the money, depending on how much she accrues, include paying off student loans and taking a trip to Italy over spring break.

“My main goal is to answer the questions correctly, so I'm trying to concentrate on that,” DiEleuterio said. “But, depending on how much I win, I'd like to finish college debt-free.

“I guess how well I do really depends on what questions I get asked,” she added, “but I was very careful about who I picked [for my phone-a-friends]. I chose five people who know a lot about different things.”

Regardless of the money she wins, DiEleuterio, who works part-time as a waitress at a popular sports bar near campus, said that part of her plans include generosity. To celebrate her appearance on television and to repay all the well-wishers who supported her in the weeks leading up to her big day, she'll treat everyone to a round of refreshments upon her return.
