Undefeated men's rugby club takes EPRU title

UD’s Men’s Rugby Football Club

5:12 p.m., Nov. 17, 2006--UD's Men's Rugby Football Club has finished a triumphant fall season and emerged as a championship team by defeating Kutztown University 44-22 at the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) finals at Ursinis College, Nov. 4.

The American Rugby News reported that Delaware played an offensive game and that the strategy paid off. “Everyone on the Delaware team played to their potential, particularly captain and eightman D.J. Wolf, who...was named Man-of-the-Match,” according to the article.

The publication ranked the Delaware team seventh in the nation, with Navy sixth and Kutztown eighth.

The Division 1A club team, coached by Bjorn Haglid, has now qualified to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Conference playoffs next spring.
