Winterfest will be held from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, on the Academy Building Lawn with caroling, roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate and cider, carriage rides, tree lighting, ice carvings, the decorating contest award ceremony and last, but not least, a visit from Santa.

Newark's first Reindeer Run and Romp will be held that evening, as well, to benefit Special Olympics of Delaware.
