Men’s basketball team loses 4th straight game

Freshman guard Brian Johnson scored 13 points in the loss to Cleveland State.

10:16 a.m., Nov. 27, 2006--The University of Delaware men's basketball game dropped its fourth straight game, falling 59-53 to Cleveland State University before 2,733 fans in a game played Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Fightin' Blue Hens now have opened the season at 0-4 for the first time since 1990-91, when the team went 0-6.

UD took a 41-40 lead midway through the second half but Cleveland State then went on an 8-0 run to take the lead and held on down the stretch for the victory.

Freshman guard Brian Johnson led the Hens with 13 points and four assists, while junior forward Herb Courtney and senior guard Calvin Cannon scored 12 points each. Sophomore guard Zaire Taylor had 10 rebounds.

The Hens will return to action with a game at Loyola College of Maryland at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday. The next home game will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, against the University of Vermont.
