Pre-Kwanzaa celebration set Dec. 3 3:17 p.m., Nov. 30, 2006--The Center for Black Culture is holding its annual pre-Kwanzaa celebration at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, in Clayton Hall to observe the seven-day African-American holiday that runs Dec. 26-Jan. 1. The event on Sunday will begin with a lecture by featured guest speaker Calvin Mackie, an author and inventor who recently appeared on HBO in Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. Mackie's lecture will be followed by live entertainment and a Kwanzaa feast. The celebration is free, and Mackie's lecture is open to the public. The festivities following the lecture are open to members of the University community only. Dinner reservations must be made by calling (302) 831-2991 or e-mailing [kolee@udel.edu] by Thursday, Nov. 30. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. |
