Horn recital Friday at CFA

4:18 p.m., Nov. 9, 2006--UD's Department of Music presents a horn recital at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Center for the Arts.

John David Smith, newest member of the music department faculty, will perform with other UD faculty members as well as several horn students from his studio and with Julie Nishimura on piano.

The program will feature Rheinhold Glière's (1875-1956) Nocturne for horn and piano; Heinrich Proch's (1809-78) Das Alpenhorn, for soprano, horn and piano and Franz Lachner's (1803-90) Frauenliebe und Leben, for soprano, horn and piano with Marie Robinson, soprano; Thomas Dunhill's (1877-1946) Cornucopia, A Sheaf of Miniatures, for horn and piano; Jody Nagel's Games, for horn and marimba with Harvey Price, marimba; Steven L. Winteregg's Pastiche, for six horns with student hornists Joshua Cushing, Scott Lynch, Kayla O'Connor, Toni Rosenbaum and Jessica Santiago; an d Alec Wilder (1907-80) selections from Suite No. 1 for horn, tuba and piano with Jay Hildebrandt, tuba.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and alumni and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
