Lecture on artist Winslow Homer set Nov. 30
4:56 p.m., Nov. 20, 2006--Elizabeth Johns, professor emerita at the University of Pennsylvania, will lecture on “Winslow Homer: The Nature of Observation,” at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, in 006 Williard Hall Education Building. The lecture is part of the Department of Art History lecture series, "Liminal Visions, Elusive Objects.”
Johns has won several awards and fellowships for her work and has lectured and written extensively on American art. Her lecture, concerning the affect of Homer's personal growth on his art, derives from her 2002 book, Winslow Homer: The Nature of Observation.
