Delaware football team to visit James Madison

4:30 p.m., Nov. 2, 2006--Coming off a difficult loss to Towson University, the University of Delaware football team must regroup in preparation for a meeting with No. 4-ranked James Madison University in an Atlantic 10 Conference game to be played at 6 p.m., Saturday, at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Fightin' Blue Hens are 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Atlantic 10 following a 49-35 loss to Towson at Tubby Raymond Field at Delaware Stadium. In that game, UD gave up 627 yards of total offense.

James Madison is 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference, with the lone loss to defending NCAA Division I-AA national champion Appalachian State University early in the season. The Dukes are coming off a 27-10 victory over the University of Richmond, a team the Hens defeated 28-24 one week earlier.

James Madison has a well-balanced team, scoring 32.0 points per game with an offense that averages 207 rushing yards and 168 passing yards per game. The defense allows just 14.8 points per game, and has been particularly effective against the run, giving up just over 100 yards per game.

Senior quarterback Justin Rascati is a candidate for the Walter Payton Award as the nation's top NCAA Division I-AA offensive player and junior free safety Tony LeZotte is a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award as the nation's top defensive player.

UD has a potent offense, even with preseason All-America candidate Omar Cuff hobbled by injuries. Quarterback Joe Flacco has completed 177 of 294 passes for 1,863 yards and 13 touchdowns. Ben Patrick has 47 catches for 482 yards and Aaron Love has 35 catches for 445 yards.

The game will be carried on Comcast CN8, as well as on radio stations WRDX-FM The River 94.7 and WVUD-FM 91.3.
