Iraq and Vietnam film screenings set Nov. 8, 15

4:54 p.m., Nov. 3, 2006--Two documentary films on U.S. wars will be shown and followed with informal discussions during November.

The first, Remember My Lai, will be shown from 7:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, in 204 Kirkbride Hall. The second, The Ground Truth, will be shown from 7:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, in 004 Kirkbride Hall.

Billed as a powerful documentary about a landmark event in the Vietnam War, Remember My Lai chronicles the My Lai Massacre of March 16, 1968, and tells the stories of Hugh Thompson and Lawrence Colburn, two soldiers who risked their lives to stop the violence.

The Ground Truth, a just-released film, is about seven veterans of the Iraq War and the challenges they faced in combat and in returning to the United States after their tours of duty.

Both films, which are free and open to the public, are sponsored by UD's Department of History. For more information on the screenings, call (302) 831-8413.
