2007 prescription drug formulary available

1:52 p.m., Nov. 20, 2006--MEDCO and the Delaware Office of Statewide Benefits recently released the 2007 prescription drug formulary, a listing that summarizes medications commonly prescribed under the State of Delaware Group Health Insurance Plan.

The formulary, in abbreviated form, can be downloaded in PDF format from UD's Office of Human Resources web site at [www.udel.edu/hr]. UD faculty and staff are advised to check the listing and share a copy of the updated formulary with their physician(s).

Jan. 1 each year is the date when medications may move from preferred to nonpreferred status. MEDCO also will mail a copy of the 2007 formulary to the home address of faculty and staff who are affected by any changes in the listing. This excludes those covered under the Basic Plan.

The current three-tier copayment costs--the Generic Plus Choice program, Step Therapy and the 90-day mail order program--remain in effect. Please keep in mind that a number of pharmacies also process 90-day prescriptions at the mail order copayment costs. Visit [www.udel.edu/hr/Pharm_90.html] on the Office of Human Resources web site to see a list these pharmacies.

For more information about pharmacy benefits, call the MEDCO customer service center at 1-800-939-2142, or contact the Office of Human Resources by phone at (302) 831-2171 or e-mail to ben-serv@udel.edu
