Holiday children’s book drive ends Friday

4:25 p.m., Nov. 28, 2006--UD's Campus Alliance de la Raza (CALR), an organization committed to the upward mobility of minority populations, is conducting a holiday book drive until Friday, Dec. 1. CALR will donate the books to the Latin American Community Center (LACC) in Wilmington, the Food Bank of Delaware, Kid's First, the Read Aloud Delaware program and several high schools in New Orleans.

Lieberman's Bookstore also is offering 20 percent off of every book purchased for the book drive, which began in November.

The books should be in good to lightly used condition. Any type of genre is accepted. The books should be for ages 3-18.

Donation boxes, decorated in Christmas paper, are located in the Center for Black Culture, Perkins Student Center, Room 232 in the Trabant University Center and in Christiana Commons.

The book drive, CALR's second, is cosponsored by the NcNair Scholars Program and HOLA. To make a monetary donation, visit [http://udel.edu/stu-org/CALR/Donate2.html].
