Holiday happenings at the Blue & Gold Club

1:26 p.m., Nov. 10, 2006--The Blue & Gold Club is planning a series of fall and winter events from Fireside Candlelight dinners to Brunch with Santa in keeping with the holiday season.

Throughout November and December, dine at the Blue & Gold before performing arts series performances, musical programs and PTTP (Professional Theatre Training Program) performances and receive a 10 percent discount, excluding alcoholic beverages, by showing your ticket.

Before cheering on the Fightin' Blue Hens, enjoy Blue & Gold tailgates at the Delaware stadium before the William & Mary game, starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, and the Villanova game, starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18.

Fireside Candlelight Dinners are scheduled Friday and Saturday evenings Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and Dec. 1, 2, 8, and 9. Chef Tableside Dinners are scheduled Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15 and 16.

A Holiday Hors d'Oeuvres Cooking Class, led by Chef Dan Beggs, will be held from 6-9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 27, and costs $22.95 per person. The menu includes wild mushroom tartlets, toasted corn cups with tuna tartare, maple-glazed duck breast on sweet potato gaufrettes, classic crab cake with chili-lime aioli, risotto croquets with fontina, beef bulgogi with soy-ginger dipping sauce and chocolate hazelnut squares.

The Feast of Festive Finery offers a buffet menu from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, and costs $19.50 for adults and $10.50 for children ages 5-11. The buffet includes sweet potato soup with nutmeg and maple syrup, autumn greens with sliced pears, toasted pecans and cranberry vinaigrette, roast turkey and braised beef brisket available at the carving station, pan-seared salmon with tomato-orange marmalade sauce, smoked whitefish salad, candied root vegetables, fried potato pancakes, applesauce, risotto rice cakes and assorted holiday desserts.

The Winter Wine Dinner will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, and costs $35 per person or $29 for dinner only. The menu includes truffle-infused French onion soup, grilled Caesar salad with sun-dried tomato tapenade, paté-stuffed chicken with vermouth cream sauce or sautéed halibut with balsamic glaze or gorgonzola-crusted beef tournedos with port wine demi glace, and hazelnut soufflé with warm chocolate ganache or caramel crème brulée.

Make your reservations early for two favorites--Brunch with Santa, from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, and the Gingerbread House Class, from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4.

Remember to order special Blue & Gold Holiday Treats to Go! for your celebrations. The deadline for Thanksgiving orders is Thursday, Nov. 16, for pick-up by 2 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 21 and 22. The deadline for December orders is Thursday, Dec. 14, for pick up by 2 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 21 and 22. Pumpkin pies are $8.75, apple pies are $9 and pecan pies are $9.25. In December a Buche de Noël for $27 also is available. The club also offers Catering to Go!

Don't forget that Blue & Gold Club gift certificates in any denomination are available for holiday giving.

The Blue & Gold Club will be closed from Nov. 23-26 and from Dec. 23-31.
